Rethink Learning is a small practice in Wallsend, Newcastle. Sessions are one-to-one, online or face to face, for students in Years 5 to 12.
Who teaches
Not a roster of university students. The people who teach your child are qualified teachers with faculty-level experience.
Director and Head Tutor
John has spent more than fifteen years as an English Head Teacher, teaching HSC Standard, Advanced and Extension I & II.
His background includes educational research into teaching strategies for literacy and writing, and he applies evidence-based methods and science-of-learning study techniques to develop critical thinking in both junior and senior students.
He designed the Read–Think–Rethink reading model that underpins every program.
English Tutor
Liz brings twenty years of teaching experience across a wide range of students and skill levels.
Her strengths are building relationships with students, supporting them to reach goals they set themselves, and editorial work on their writing.
How we work
A practice this size can do things a large provider cannot.
Every student is assigned a tutor based on their particular learning needs, and every student starts with a consultation rather than an enrolment form. Past work and results are reviewed, a short assessment is run, and a learning plan is written before the first paid session.
Sessions run in Wallsend, or online over Google Meet for families outside the Newcastle region. Progress reports go out every five weeks, and a shared folder keeps parents current on what each session covered.
