Every student undergoes an initial consultation, in which past data and results are reviewed and testing is conducted to create a personalised learning plan that includes reading levels and focus areas for comprehension and writing.

We ensure students have a balance of challenge and success by selecting text types aimed at extending their vocabulary and reading ability. Our approach is to develop reading habits that layer active, strategic and critical reading skills for all students. This ensures that as students build up to more challenging texts they develop more sophisticated critical analysis skills.

Reports are provided for students every 5 weeks depending on what their focus area is. An overview of the reading improvement and skills learnt including a student reflection on learning  will be provided at this time. We also provide a shared folder of resources and notes so you can keep up to date with what was discussed/covered in each session

We offer online tutoring for students who are not able to physically attend and can provide sessions in small groups that run just like face-to-face sessions.

Each student is assigned a tutor based on their particular learning needs. Our tutors are university educated and qualified and trained in key learning areas. We understand that one of the great benefits of small group tutoring is the relationships that are developed and we take great care in recognising student needs and personality types of our tutors when we organise groups as well as skill levels.

We provide students with a reading routine to hone their skills in between sessions. It follows the steps of three separate readings of 15 minutes each in order to build student skills through spaced practice which we cover in our study skills blog post. The first read focuses on active reading skills, the second read on strategic reading and the third read on critical reading. Students complete the attached worksheet each week and it is marked by our tutors with feedback provided in session.
