Programs

Three stages, one method

Every program runs on the same underlying model. What changes is how much of it is turned toward writing, and how closely it tracks what the student is studying at school.

Years 5–9

Reading foundations

Building the reading habits that everything later depends on — active, strategic and critical reading, alternating fortnightly with writing routines.

  • The Read-Think-Rethink reading model
  • Active, strategic and critical reading skills
  • Introduction to critical thinking for writing

Years 10–11

Critical writing

Where reading turns into writing — integrating active, strategic and critical reading into a framework that produces a genuine argument.

  • Integrating reading skills into a critical writing framework
  • Specific instruction on the texts and concepts being studied at school
  • Building an argument that answers the question asked

Year 12

HSC English

Critical writing and HSC content, individualised to the student — Standard, Advanced, and Extension I & II.

  • Critical writing individualised to student needs
  • HSC content across Standard, Advanced and Extension I & II
  • Responding to stimulus, unseen texts and module-specific demands
